  Technique/Methods

The transgressing of photographic boundaries plays a significant role in the presentational form of my photos. The majority of my photographic works are printed on reflective metal foil, sealed with UV protective film and laminated onto an Aludibond sheet. I developed this process over time in cooperation with a Berlin laboratory that specializes in photographic and digital media. This technique is all but predestined for water motifs, as it creates incredibly realistic sensory effects: the hues of the water shift according to the angle of the light and the perspective of the view, its surface almost seeming to ripple. The play of light which the viewer almost automatically associates with the elements of "water" and "facades" actually takes place on the picture's surface. With this technical transformation, the image loses the quality of a static medium. I am able to overcome the "frozen" gaze of the camera and "physically" grasp the typical character of water and motion. This is further augmented by the deliberate use of analog and digital blur, making the structures appear soft and fluid.
